Add-ons

Rates increase for additions such as:

  • Wings, additional limbs, etc.
  • Familiars, pets, mounts.
  • Backgrounds or scenic elements.
  • And anything else involving particularly complex or detailed work (e.g. action scenes; elaborate tattoos; highly engineered/detailed weapons/tools/instruments; repetitive patterns such as scales or etched plate; etc.).

When you send me a description of the artwork you’d like to commission from me it is important to make note of any such elements in order to receive an accurate quote.

Requesting a commission

Please send an email to johnlattaartcontact@gmail.com detailing your character’s features: species, class, age (or “apparent age”), sex/gender, skin/eye/hair colors, etc. In the case of humanoids, let me know whether yours might correspond to a real-world ethnicity. Reference images are not required, but they’re encouraged if you’re unsure how to describe something.

In addition, please include descriptions of any items or other visible features that you would like me to include (see also the “Add-ons” section above). Based on the information you send, I may ask follow-up questions if things need clarification and/or offer suggestions on your subject matter.

Holding a commission slot – Paying your deposit

Once I’ve reviewed your details and we’ve agreed on a quote, I create an invoice for you to fulfill via Paypal. (Clients with a Canadian bank account have the option of requesting a PDF invoice and sending payment via Interact e-transfer.) For invoicing purposes, I require the email address and world-region associated with your Paypal account to calculate transfer fees – clients are expected to cover these charges.

Payment must be received in advance before I begin working on your commission. Clients have the option of paying either in full or a minimum of half the amount agreed upon as a deposit before work begins, paying the remainder once work is complete. Special payment plans can be arranged for larger commissions; ask for details if necessary.

Once work begins on your project, all payments are final. NO refunds under ANY circumstances.

Completing your commission

Starting from the expected time bookmarked in my queue, turnaround is usually 1-2 weeks for a single character and up to 3-5 weeks for group shots/full page scene work. I will inform you if I need more time than projected.

You have a chance to offer feedback and request edits at each stage of the work in progress: i.e. initial sketch, line art, and colors. I’m happy to make minor modifications within reason.

Adding major additions or changes beyond what was originally discussed, or repeat requests for reworking incur additional charges (based on a $40 hourly rate). I will always let you know in advance if this will become the case. Additional work will not be executed until balance owing is paid in these cases.

Once the artwork is complete and I have received your final payment balance, the artwork is emailed or electronically transferred to you as a high-resolution image file at 300 DPI.
